How to Germinate Marijuana Seeds

So your plot is ready for planting. You now have two choices: you can either sow the seeds directly into the ground, or you can transplant pre-germinated plants that you have started off at home. Usually start these off in a dark place and then move the seedlings under lights or on a window ledge. Germinating them inside will give a much higher success rate. For more information on marijuana germination you should read the section on growing marijuana indoors.

For now let us assume that you will be planting seeds directly into the soil.

A good supply of water is crucial

Planting should take place early in the season, around April or May, after the last frost.

Obviously the exact timing will depend on where you live – this is based on the Northern hemisphere i.e. in time for spring and summer. For the southern hemisphere such as Australia where spring commences on the 1st Of September you would look for any warm spell after that date. Marijuana plants will not tolerate frost so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Plant the seeds around 1.25cm (1/2”) deep into your prepared soil. Plant them sideways, we find this works well quite consistently. Make sure that they are well watered and will not dry out if there are some sunny days, make sure you keep them moist at all times. After approximately 48 hours you should start to see the first signs of the seed cracking open and the first shoots coming out. That’s how to germinate a marijuana seed!

i have found that if you use an egg carton to germinate the seeds they pop up really fast
just half fill each hole in the egg carton with seedling potting mix press the seeds in pointy side facing up bout 1 cm dwn and keep the carton as wet as possible without saturating
the seeds will pop up in 48 hrs and progress really quickly when its time to transplant them you can just plant them in their egg carton so when you transfer them you dont cause any stress to the plant
the egg carton is biodegradeable so just transfer into good soil and my secret dont use chemicals to grow your crop use straight worm poo juice anyone with a worm farm will sell this.

after you put the seeds in the carton do you put them on a windowsill to get light? or do you just put them someplace dark and when they germinate move them to a windowsill

Just drop a few seeds in a cup of water and leave it out by a window. After 24 hours push them into the water. If they float take em out. The ones that sink with start to sprout in about48 hours. Then just plant them in a small cup about a inch under the soil and soon as shit you will have your babies ready to transplant.:))

put them in a drawer in a shady but cool place, also make sure the seeds aren’t damaged in any way!

Cambell,I’ve lived in the”Emerald Triangle”,with many years experience. Save yourself time and trouble, plant in “Smart Pots”I usually use 65Gal. and fill them with a mixture of your soil and a good mix.Advantages your fertilizer goes to the roots not the ground and these bags are air pruning which keeps the roots balling up,when they hit the sides they spread out,and last YOU CAN MOVE THEM with little trouble.
